Halls Gap Recovery Kitchen Cabinet

Halls Gap’s community members have formed an informal community recovery committee, called “Halls Gap Recovery Kitchen Cabinet” (auspiced by the Community Association of Halls Gap Inc) that meets weekly to discuss recovery and advocacy priorities.

Coming out of early community meetings in late December 2024 that acknowledged the power of community led recovery, the Kitchen Cabinet came together while Halls Gap was still in the midst of the fires, anticipating being a time-limited group, and initially made up of representatives from existing community groups and business operators who had been working to create connections across the community. The Kitchen Cabinet began delivering events and opportunities focused on wellbeing and community connection, recognising that it is up to the community to act for ourselves.
