Grampians Region – Wimmera District

Forest Fire Management Victoria advise that the following planned burn will be carried out on Wednesday, weather and fuel moisture conditions permitting:

Grampians National Park – Oslers Track, fuel reduction burn.

The objective of this burn is to develop fuel reduced areas of sufficient width and continuity to reduce the speed and intensity of bushfires.

This burn ignition should be completed between 1000 hours on Wednesday 17th April and 2000 hours on Thursday 18th April.

This burn is located in the north-east area of Grampians National Park, 9.5km north of Halls Gap.

Temporary closures will be in place throughout ignition and for the duration of the burn, and will re-open when declared safe.

Temporary park closures:

Mt Zero Rd (from Redgum Lease Tk to north of Plantation Campground)
Pines Rd (From Fyans Creek road to Mt Zero Road)
Plantation Campground
Oslers Track
Oslers Track Bush Camps

Visitor access to remain open:

Red Gum Lease Bush Camps (3km north of Halls Gap)
Heatherlie Quarry (from Roses Gap Road only)

You may be affected by smoke from this planned burn.  Smoke may be visible from nearby localities and communities.

What to do about:

SMOKE

· If you are experiencing any symptoms that may be due to smoke exposure, you should seek medical advice or call Nurse on Call on 1300 60 60 24

ROADS

· Road travel may be hazardous due to low visibility associated with smoke.

· Signs may be in place to slow traffic. Obey all traffic signs and instructions from fire agency crews near the burn.

ACCESS TO FOREST/PARK RECREATION SITES

· Be aware of planned burns happening in your local area and stay clear of areas where burns are taking place or areas that have recently been burnt.

· Access to walking tracks, car parks, camping grounds and picnic sites in areas close to or in burn areas may be restricted.
